Basic Life Support, delivered by people who live here.
Mahwah EMS provides free, all-volunteer Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service to the Township, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year — backed by mutual aid, and always ready to support our Fire Department.
Emergency Response
When you call 911, a crew of trained EMTs and drivers responds from whichever station is closer — Northside or Southside — ready to treat and transport for shock, trauma, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, childbirth, and more.
Paramedic Coordination
Where a call needs a higher level of care, our crews coordinate with hospital-based Paramedic (MICU) units. Our BLS service is always free; any charge for Paramedic care comes from the hospital, not from us.
Mutual Aid
We maintain long-standing, reciprocal mutual aid agreements with volunteer squads in neighboring towns, so Mahwah is covered even during our busiest hours — and we return the favor.
Fire Rehab & Support
At every working fire and rescue operation, Mahwah EMS is on scene alongside the Mahwah Fire Department, providing medical support and rehabilitation for firefighters and residents alike.
Community Standbys
From Mahwah Day and Town parades to high school football games and fireworks, our crews stand by at Township events to keep residents safe. Standby requests must be made at least three weeks in advance.
Public Education
Members take part in Touch-A-Truck, Safety Town, and other community programs, helping residents of all ages understand what to do — and who to call — in an emergency.
