Mahwah Emergency Medical Services, Inc. ("Mahwah EMS," "we," "us," or "our") operates this website. This policy explains what information we collect through the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website, not to the emergency medical care we provide in the field.
Information we collect
We collect information in the following limited ways:
- Information you provide directly. If you use our contact form, it opens a pre-filled email in your own email application; your message is sent to us as a regular email and is not stored on this website or by any third party.
- Information you send us by email. If you email us directly (for membership inquiries, standby requests, records requests, or any other reason), we retain that correspondence as needed to respond to you and to keep organizational records.
- Donations. Donations made through the "Donate" page are processed entirely by PayPal. We do not collect or store your payment card or PayPal account information; that information is handled under PayPal's own privacy policy.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may automatically log standard technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and performance purposes. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.
What we don't collect here
This website does not collect patient care information, medical records, or any protected health information. Patient care records are maintained separately by Mahwah EMS in accordance with New Jersey and federal medical privacy law (HIPAA), and are never stored on or transmitted through this website.
How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- Respond to inquiries, membership applications, and standby or records requests
- Process and acknowledge donations
- Maintain the security and proper functioning of this website
- Keep basic organizational and volunteer records
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may use minimal technical cookies necessary for the site to function and to protect against abuse.
Third-party links
Our site links to third-party services, including PayPal, Facebook, and Instagram, as well as neighboring EMS squads and government agencies. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them; we are not responsible for their practices.
Records requests
Requests for patient care records must be submitted in writing to records@mahwahems.org and are handled under applicable state and federal law, not through this website.
Children's privacy
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Our Junior Member program collects membership information separately and directly, with appropriate parental involvement.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
